Saying 'I've been a "tranny" for 32 Years,' RuPaul insists Logo is not distancing itself from him.
Drag legend tweets: ' I’m still payin’ the f%kin’ light bill over RuPaul modelthere'

Drag legend RuPaul Charles took to Twitter over the weekend to make a few things clear: he's not going to stop using the word 'tranny' and LOGO TV is not distancing itself from him because of it.

The star of the popular RuPaul's Drag Race wrote: 'Trust! @LogoTV hasn’t “distanced” itself from me, not while I’m still payin’ the f%kin’ light bill over there.'

RuPaul blonde and goldRuPaul was responding to a quote from Logo TV spokesman last week which Buzzfeed characterized as the cable channel 'distancing itself' from the outspoken personality.

RuPaul had said in an interview last week: 'Does the word ‘tranny’ bother me? No. I love the word "tranny." Don’t you dare tell me what I can do or what I can say. It’s just words. Yeah, words do hurt. Words hurt me. You know what? Bitch, you need to get stronger. You really do. Because you know what? If you think, if you’re upset by something I said, you have bigger problems than you think. I’m telling you this.'

Rather than backing down from his original comments, RuPaul sent out a series of tweets making himself even more clear: The absurdity! It’s as if Jay Z got offended by Kanye using the word “Nigga.”

It’s not the word itself, but the intention behind the word. I’ve been a “tranny” for 32 years. The word “tranny” has never just meant transsexual.

RuPaul Andre Charles (born November 17, 1960), best known mononymously as RuPaul, is an American actor, drag queen, model, author, and recording artist, who first became widely known in the 1990s when he appeared in a wide variety of television programs, films, and musical albums. Previously, he was a fixture on the Atlanta and New York City club scenes. Usually billed as RuPaul Charles, he has played men in a number of roles, and makes public appearances both in and out of drag.

RuPaul is noted among drag queens for his indifference toward the gender-specific pronouns used to address him—both "he" and "she" have been deemed acceptable, as he has said: "You can call me he. You can call me she. You can call me Regis and Kathie Lee; I don't care! Just as long as you call me." He hosted a short-running talk show on VH1, and currently hosts the reality television show RuPaul's Drag Race. RuPaul is also known for his hit song "Supermodel (You Better Work)".
