A fairly strong gay scene and progressive homosexual rights laws are among the reasons American LGBT travelers are making the trek there. Great shopping and beaches, plus an awesome fashion scene, are drawing tourists, too and Colombia's just three hours from Miami.

Bogota, the largest city in Colombia and home to the country's largest gay scene, is well established as a go-to vacation destination. But the 7.5 million-resident capital of the country is not the only city to which gays now travel for a vacation. Cartagena, Barranquilla and Medellin also are becoming very popular, according to the Miami Herald.

Swimming is not the only pastime for gay tourists. Among the other travel possibilities are wilderness trekking in Ciudad Perdida, people-watching and sun-worshiping on Playa Blanca and visiting San Gil, known as an adventure mecca.The increase in foreign travelers into Bogota means the city's hotel industry is doing very well and nearly every hotel welcomes gay tourists.

The Hotel High Park in Bogota is the country's first exclusively LGBT boutique hotel, while the sleek Grand House is an easy walk from Parque 93. Cartagena doesn't have the overt LGBT scene that Bogota does, but there are a few gay nightclubs and bars, including a new local pick, Studio 54. Also, there is an area of a gay beach (Playa Hollywood) that becomes especially gay every Sunday.And on the north side of Bogota is Chapinero Alto, the city's burgeoning gay nabe. It's got cafes, bars and nightclubs that cater to gay customers and it's known affectionately as "Chapigay."

The music is decent and the people too. Mix all types of strata. From 2 to 5 and 6. You can go. There are few straight, but get ready for cheesy sermons made by them by the speaker.

Club Franquicia. _ Km 5 Via la Calera.
It is still very good and more exclusive than others. They are open until 3 AM. A very good place to get away from prying eyes and listen to great music. Are beginning to let in some straight couples and it is rumored in Bogota as a site to browse chevere. Care that does not happen as Cinema Disco Fire or we lost by all the onlookers began to go.

It is the best bar - Disco that exists in Colombia. It has two great parks located on both sides of the bar. The clientele is excellent (stratum 4, 5 & 6). It has some bi-curious and cute young people. Entry is restricted to hetero couples unless they come with gay friends. People in the area has a little attitude, but it runs very good.
