Sakis Rouvas was born in Corfu and it wasn’t long before music and song became a part of his life. His classmates will certainly remember the unforgettable graduation party where Sakis’ rendition of Elvis and The Beatles’ greatest hits made him the undisputed star of the show.
Artistic gymnastics was his other passion and he has won exceptional national awards. He also excelled at pole vaulting and, being the exceptional talent that he was, became a member of the Greek National Team.
In 1991, Sakis makes his first professional appearance at the Show Centre in Athens where he is discovered by Polygram and offered his first record contract.
Just a few months later, he makes his unbelievable debut through a performance at the Thessaloniki Song Festival. The song “Parta” (“Take Them”), with music by Nikos Terzis and lyrics by Georgos Pavrianos, wins first place and Sakis gets his first taste of enthusiastic fans who immediately feel that a new star is being born!
His first solo album, called "Sakis Rouvas" is released the day after his triumph at the festival, being positioned at number one. In September 1992, released their second album, called "Min Antistekesai", consolidating the singer in the music market.
In October 1993, takes his third job, this time with music and lyrics by Alexis Papadimitriou Eleni Giannatsoulia. The press begins to echo the young singer, giving it good reviews and going on numerous covers. In the winter of 1994 Sakis collaborating with Nikos Karvelas and Natalia Germanou, the result was the hit "Aima, Dakria, ki Idrotas" also highlights songs as "Ela Mou" and "Ksana.
That then, Sakis is called to attend military service. Months later, launch a new album, working again with Germanou Karvelas and, based on the success of his previous work. The CD in question was called "Tora Arhizoun ta Diskola" which makes live appearances with Anna Vissi. For four consecutive years, monopolize the Greek Music Awards "Pop Corn", winning awards for Best New Artist, Best Song, Best presence scenic and many more. He collaborated with artists such as Tolis Voskopoulos, Anna Vissi and Katie Garmpi.
On 19 May 1997, Sakis is a step towards peace and reconciliation appearing with Turkish pop star, BURATO Kud, in a concert 'binational' Green Line in Cyprus. The concert, which won Sakis Ipeksi Award for the understanding and cooperation, take too much public visibility, leading to political debates. George Papandreou and Konstantinos Mitsotakis won the same award that year. Sakis and Burak also recorded a duet for the Walt Disney film "The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Since 1996, Sakis has the largest fan club in Greece, "SRFC (Sakis Rouvas Fan Club).
With two gold albums and one platinum, Sakis moved on to Minos EMI label. In December 1998, his latest album "Kati Apo Mena" becomes successful, reaching gold status in two months. For his presentation, Sakis appeared in a major music stores, Virgin Megastores, where thousands of fans caused traffic chaos in the crowded streets of Athens. He won - again - the award for best stage presence "Pop Corn" Music Awards.
The new millennium finds Sakis in the studio, recording what would be his next album "21st Akatallilos" which was released in March 2000. Once again, reaching the top of the charts in just a few days. That same year, Pepsi Sakis calls to star in the summer campaign of soda. For the Christmas of 2000, 10 December, offers a concert called "Night of Angels" in Tessalonika. From the hand of Pepsi again, Sakis begins a tour called "Pepsi Tour 2001" which took him all over the Greek geography.
In the fall of that year produced the presentation of the year, and Despina Vandi Sakis Rouvas, who wins another gold record, thanks to "Disco Girl". In the first Arion Awards in March 2002, Sakis won the award for best singer of the year for his album "Disco Girl" presenting for the first time an unreleased song "Ola Kala".
