In 2008, Adams landed his big break when he starred as Larry, along side co-star Mario Lopez, in the hit Broadway revival of "A Chorus Line." The New York Post recently hailed Nick as having the best biceps on Broadway. HX magazine raves that Adams gives, "dance ten, looks ten" as Larry, and Perez Hilton describes him as, "hot and built."
Adams' physique can be seen in upcoming advertisements for "2xist Underwear." His television appearances include: "Dancing With The Stars," "The View," "The Today Show," and "The Early Show."
When Adams is not working, he enjoys spending time at the gym, taking class, dinning out, Central Park, and fundraising for Broadway Cares. He is represented by DGRW Talent INC, Choice Model Management, and CESD.
In June 2009 he was in the Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls.
In 2010, Adams played one of the "Cagelles" in the La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre. It starred Kelsey Grammer of "Frasier" television fame.
Adams appears as one of the leading roles (Adam/Felicia) in the current Broadway production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which opened at the Palace Theater on March 20, 2011 after a short run in Toronto at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
Personal life
Adams was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to Kenneth Mark Adams and Janet Rose Wojtalik. He attended high school at Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Erie.
"My mom took me to a show in my hometown at a community theater when I was nine and I specifically remember just feeling so alive, on the edge of my seat," he told Micah Jesse in an interview, adding, "I never had another option or another desire to do anything."
In 2010, Adams, who is gay, was a part of a PSA for the It Gets Better campaign with cast members from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Turtle Bay incident
In July 2009, Adams and his boyfriend went to the Turtle Bay nightclub in Manhattan, where they were denied entry. The bouncer said that the white T-shirt that Adams was wearing did not meet the dress code. Adams reported that he and his boyfriend were holding hands, and the bouncer smirked at them when he refused them entry.
Adams claims he then saw a group of men that he described as straight, some wearing white tshirts allowed into the bar. Adams posted the story to his blog, and Twitter, where his fans "went crazy". Eventually the manager of the bar posted an apology, and claimed it was a misunderstanding. Adams responded "I was discriminated against. I will not give my business to Turtle Bay and I urge you to do the same. This womans attempt to brush this aside as a misunderstanding is disingenuous at best if not hurtful and offensive to myself and the gay community of New York City".
Awards
In 2011, Adams won two Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards, for "Favorite Breakthrough Performance" and "Favorite Diva Performance" for his role in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
